It was more than thirty minutes past sunset, I kept staring into the pearl skies and the endless sea, lost in deep thoughts when Swagatika interrupted me.
There is something about the sunsets in Maldives; it gives me a deep sense of positive solitude. We set up our bean bags on the shore, enjoying post-sunset vibes, talking about random things in life- away from the city, work and all the routine hustle and bustle.
Maldives… This island country is way more beautiful than I would’ve ever imagined. There are about a hundred islands developed as resorts, each one different from the other. The color of the water mesmerized me…. It is crystal blue when the sun shines, pale blue during the sunset, vivid blue in the middle, turquoise blue near the shore and so many other shades in between. I’d never seen so many shades of blue.

The clear water gives clear glimpses of marine life. Just sit on a pier for fifteen minutes and you can see at least fifty varieties of fish and other sea creatures.
We spent our days island-hopping, dolphin watching, snorkelling and shopping on local islands. Some days, we’d start our day with Aqua yoga, build sand castles, go shell picking along the shore and take sunset dips in the Indian Ocean. Nights were incredibly entertaining with endless music and learning new dance moves from people from all over the world.

Here are few tips to keep in mind if you are planning to visit the Maldives
Visa:
This Beautiful Tourist country offers a friendly visa policy to most of the countries. For Indians, the Visa is on Arrival.
Stay options:
Resorts are the most common option in Maldives. All resorts offer pickup and drop to the airport for a fee. They also organize daily activities, musical nights and engage their clients in many ways.
If you are looking for inexpensive options, the locals can host you. Check out options on Airbnb… Nothing can beat staying with locals and enjoying this beautiful country like a local 🙂
Currency:
Though the currency in Maldives is Rufia, all the resorts and local stores accept dollars. I highly recommend carrying dollars before leaving for the Maldives, as the currency exchange is a little difficult after landing. If you have a Forex card or a card with less conversion cost, there’s nothing like it.
How to dress:
Swimwear is allowed in the resort, but if you wish to visit the capital city or any islands inhabited by locals, dress modestly. Try to go in fully covered clothes as a token of respect to their local culture.

Hi !!!
loved your write up and experience. It seems you have enjoyed a lot. Pics are great too.
I am also planning my honeymoon at maldives. Please can you suggest how one should book the paradise island resort. Which travel website would you recommend or should we book through hotel website?
Thanks.
I booked it from makemytrip!! Have a great holiday
Thanks for the great blog, what cost do u paid for the Paradise Island for 4 nights.
We went a couple of years back. It was doubling from 8k onwards 🙂
We (me n my wife) choose Adaaran beach to stay for three night beach side bungalow and one night in water villa(Half board ).Could you please let me know how much Money should I borrow along with me in Maldives (including cash and in card) to spent 5 days and 4 night over there (lunch, transport, bar ? we are planning to take 1-2 activity over there. Also please suggest what can we do to spend time over there?
The budget depends on what activities you are planning. Usually each activity averages between 100-150 dollars, Frey pickup and drop is also in the same range.
If your resort is not giving you all three meals then keep a budget of 10 dollars per meal (avg)
I suggest you to carry dollars instead of exchanging in Maldives.
Thanks for the blog. A well written travelogue. Kindly let me know how much would it cost. (
INR)for a four day trip at Paradise Island for two personp. It will help me to plan our trip. Thank you very much.
It depends on season and which villa you are booking. It starts from INR 7.5K per night onwards.
Amazing blog & amazing person , helping everyone 👌👍😇
Happy travels Sumit!
