In a city that runs as fast as the streaming rain, Bandra is definitely a change of pace.

A walk in the streets of Bandra transports you back a decade- it feels like you are walking around with a retro-vintage filter on the world. The Mumbai madness is suddenly far away and life feels much slower.

You get to see men and women in their verandahs, chilling, while the older folks gather near parks and gossip. Playgrounds are filled with kids and youngsters running around and playing, artists indulge in their art and you find street side flower shops with orchids, lilys, marigold, colourful carnations, roses, rare chrysanthemums, dahlias and many, many others. The buildings are a delightful selection of pastels and the crosses in front of the houses date back to the18th century.

Apart from the reputation of celebrity residents which led to the springing up of posh pubs and cafes, Bandra offers many other reasons to hangout around more often. It’s called the queen of the suburbs for a good reason.

Art Attack

It’s a place soaked in different art forms. Be it street art, music, galleries or learning a new art form, it has got you covered.

Vibrant Cafes

Bandra has some of the most artistic and vibrant cafes I’ve had the opportunity to encounter. Here are my favourites

Brookebond Taj mahal Cafe - Bandra

Architecture

It’s the best mix of Catholic, Portuguese, British and Koli style architectures. Each home is unique in its own style and rich in details. The beautiful churches, both big and small, make Bandra a paradise for photographers, painters and artists.

Shopping spree

Hit Hill Road or Linking Road for pocket friendly street shopping. Check out Waterfield Road for designer boutiques and party wear.

Sunset by the sea

Sitting on the Bandra fort walls, watching the waves hit its pillars one one side while the sun sets on the other is a magnificent experience. It feels like a slomo video come to life.
