Storytime with @tyndisheritage Pic 1: Sunset time Storytime with @tyndisheritage Pic 1: Sunset time, heartful, stood there holding up tears (anybody else cries watching gorgeous sunsets? ) Pic 2: In Thalassery, when the government issued permission to cut off a similar old tree, all the school kids made turns to hug that tree, govt had to withdraw the permission after a few days 🙂 Pic 3: The streets of Mahe - A little french town on the coasts of North Kerala. What history this place holds! This ex french colony was once upon a time an international border when the British ruled India. Pic 4: We took a long break and settled down to watch the sea from the St.Angelo Kannur fort. Pic 5: Picked up some wildflowers while walking! Pic 6: Me, indulged in Farhan's stories. About life here, memoirs from the past - Culture, struggles, social reforms, nationalist movements. I was shocked listening to some, got emotional for others, and laughed at a few. A few days back, before coming here, Naveen from @ A few days back, before coming here, Naveen from @tyndisheritage told me many great things about North Kerala! About the rich culture, how art forms like theyyam and kalarippayattu are not staged in this region but are performed as a way of life, about the sea kayaking experience, heritage trails, greatest stories, and of course the very popular Malabar cuisine. But I precisely remember him saying ''The beach is only 100mts from where you'll stay, you could read and probably write good stuff. It's peaceful, and only a handful of people visit there''. What are great things without comfort, I thought! The ease of social distancing in an empty beach; the convenience of not having to wear a mask; the magic of what the waves could do to an overthinking mind 🙂 . I couldn't write much this year. At least 60 stories are rotting in my drafts, begging to be completed, and Kannur might be just the inspiration I needed.  . . . Ps: This picture might have been staged, but the vibe is all real!  . Travelling is not the same! Last year this time, I Travelling is not the same! Last year this time, I spent time at Vellinezhi, Palakkad, revisiting the golden days of kathakali at olappamanna mana. In 2020, I didn't expect to travel, but for work and a couple of responsible tourism projects, Im back in Kerala, this time in the Malabar region. . However, traveling is not the same...I get anxious to step out.@keralatourism made it a little easy by having multiple checks and strict rules in place. Still, Im not going to any tourist places, avoiding passing by sensitive areas, and limiting local interactions. Instead, Im learning about the heritage of this land, listening to heartwarming stories, and understanding the political history and the culture of north Kerala from the local storytellers of @tyndisheritage. Will soon share these stories here 🐘🌞🌈🌊

Too tired of trying not to think about what others Too tired of trying not to think about what others think! Easy to say "I don't care" but very hard to implement! Any thoughts?
Why the hell did I end up here while I could have Why the hell did I end up here while I could have stayed comfortably at home, watched TV, and slept on my comfortable bed? I have these thoughts on many nights while travelling, more often than I'd expect! . Travelling somehow never came easy to me (irony). Long delays, cancelled flights, landslides, unexpected climate shifts, sudden change in plans always kept my company! But even when the journey was a nightmare, I still learned something new and picked up new perspectives about life! . Do you miss home while traveling? If yes, why do you still travel?

Getting immersed in the song that's playing in the earphones and singing along aloud 🎤 (and entertaining others) . Ranting to the flower pots 🤷🏽‍♀️ . Re-arranging the bookshelf 🤟 . Buying flowers for self 💁🏽‍♀️ . Finishing a crossword puzzle 😎 . Wrapping up work early to settle down and binge-watch something nice! ✨ . . Btw did you watch @schittscreek yet? I'm watching it all over again. It's like therapy!
Thank me later for this recommendation!  During Thank me later for this recommendation!  During my travels, I always preferred a place that has a view. I would sit by the window, watch people, or simply look at the view for hours.  . After the lockdown started, an Indian Singapore couple who got bored of looking at the same window every day created something incredible - Window-swap.com - They found a way to travel without traveling! . Lately, I've been obsessed with the site. These days during work breaks, I spend time looking at the view of other people's windows from France, Ukraine, Iran, Norway, Canada, Argentina, Malaysia, and many more. They are all beautiful and very calming to watch. I know it went viral a couple of months back, but I underestimated it and convinced myself that it'd probably make me sad that I'm unable to travel. I was wrong. The internet can be heartwarming sometimes

I miss candid moments that momentarily make me forget about all the worldly worries of life.  . The familiar smile of the girl who sells Champa flowers on the local train.  . The smart grin of the vada pav uncle who presents me with mint chews instead of change every day (because chutta nahi hai) . Conversations, banter, and rants with friends from work over the coffee under the banyan tree!  . Love simple yet delightful sequences like these I get to experience every day!  . For the Mayhem that Bombay is, I've always managed to find my calm in these moments. It's strange how challenging it is to find calm now when the world is almost still!  . . Picture from the time when beach picnics were still a thing!
